Overview of Communication Skills in Social Work when working with Vulnerable Populations...
Some things that I learned from the Overview about Communication were:
- There were 24 language translations made available of the 2001 Census.
- Children in London schools speak 300 languages.
- Effective communication in social work draws on a diverse knowledge base.
- Many skills that will help me be an effective communicator such as, listening, reflecting, being empathetic, asking questions, and observing.
I plan to use what I have learned in my professional practice by building a trusting relationship, being open, honest and truthful, taking into account each clients’ views and ideas, and most importantly respecting them and their individual needs. Each client is unique and has different circumstances that have led them to us. It is our duty as a social worker to help them to the best of our abilities, and I think being an effective communicator is an important aspect that will be most beneficial.
I did not do well on the quiz, but I did learn new information from it.
